<\/span>New day, new blow to Binance: <\/span>The US arm of crypto exchange Binance has decided <\/span>to suspend USD transactions and transition to a crypto-only exchange after its payment and banking partners \u201csignaled their intent to pause USD fiat channels,\u201d it said in a <\/span>tweet<\/a><\/span>. USD deposits were suspended on Friday while withdrawals will be disabled by business partners on 13 June. Binance blames the setback on the \u201caggressive and intimidating tactics\u201d of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which last week <\/span>filed 13 civil charges<\/a><\/span> against the company on allegations of manipulating trading volumes, operating unregistered exchanges, and misrepresenting trading controls. <\/span><\/p>\n

Crypto market hit:<\/span> The crypto market had a rough weekend, with a number of smaller <\/span>digital tokens facing the brunt of investors\u2019 anxieties following the SEC\u2019s move, <\/span>Bloomberg<\/a><\/span> reports<\/span>. Altcoins like Cardano\u2019s ADA plunged by as much as 25% on Saturday, while Solana\u2019s SOL, Polygon\u2019s MATIC, and Avalanche\u2019s AVAX all fell by double digits. The largest digital currency, BTC, fell nearly 3% and Ether, the second largest, lost 6% to hit its lowest level since March. <\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just US regulators that are out to get Binance:<\/span>Nigeria\u2019s financial regulator has <\/span>ordered the company to immediately cease its operations in the country, rendering it an illegal entity, <\/span>Reuters<\/a><\/span>reported yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n
