The plant is set to produce some 1.2 mn tons of green ammonia and 210k tons of green hydrogen annually, the statement reads. The company mentioned the plans in a meeting with SCZone CEO Walid Gamal El Din, who is <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/04dda22d-b376-4d76-bf9a-50f917a5ac39\" style=\"\">leading a delegation in China and Hong Kong<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> this week to promote investment in the zone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Changing costs:<\/span><span style=\"\"> The SCZone yesterday pegged the cost of the project at USD 7 bn, <\/span><span>significantly above the initial USD 5.1 bn figure<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fa878ad1-53fa-486f-9f54-cd3f552f5e3c\" style=\"\">announced<\/a><\/span><span> by the Madbouly government i<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">n February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Background: <\/span><span style=\"\">Energy China <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/6fca6e16-feca-4c33-b94b-1147cb91ff4a\" style=\"\">signed<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\"> the initial MoU to conduct a feasibility study on the plant in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">That\u2019ll make 10:<\/span><span style=\"\"> The government <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/0f2251cd-82db-4ba9-9ef9-b1287b0bef1f\" style=\"\">signed framework agreements<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\"> for nine green hydrogen plants <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">on the sidelines of last year\u2019s COP27 climate summit. The projects would collectively require USD 83 bn of investment to complete, it said at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700;\">ALSO FROM THE ROADSHOW- <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">China-Africa Development Fund backing?<\/span><span style=\"\"> The SCZone delegation met with China-Africa <\/span><span>Development Fund Chairman Song Lei, who expressed the fund\u2019s readiness to fund Chinese projects wanting to invest in Egypt\u2019s economic zones especially those working in green hydrogen, the SCZone said in <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid02pK4PRvXVfgqUQ6GFaaJFZ7h7BhipX3CsVB5LmYoABHLSjhRwxU73K6ms2EfeC6GXl\" style=\"\">a statement<\/a><\/span><span>.
