Set up to replace the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2016\/11\/02\/supreme-investment-council-adopts-17-pro-investment-policies\/\" style=\"\">investment council<\/a><\/span><span> that was established in 2016, the new body is part of the state\u2019s efforts to boost investment and stimulate economic growth. Its formation was <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3f93ba59-5bb0-4d31-9442-733aba44a6fb\" style=\"\">greenlit by cabinet<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> in November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Who is on board?<\/span><span> Chaired by the president, the council is composed of 22 ministers and state officials, including the prime minister, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, the chairman of the EGX, and head of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, along with the planning, international cooperation, <\/span><span>defense, and military production ministers<\/span><span>, among others. The council may also invite non-member state officials, private-sector representatives, and experts to its meetings, though non-members are not given voting <\/span><span>rights<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. The council is set to convene at least once every three months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">What it does:<\/span><span> The new council seeks to eliminate obstacles to new investment and accelerate licensing for new projects, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.almasryalyoum.com\/news\/details\/2867137\" style=\"\">Al Masry Al Youm<\/a><\/span><span> quotes a member of parliament as saying. The <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a
