<\/span>No slowdown for the Gulf IPO boom: <\/span>Gulf financial markets are becoming a firm <\/span>fixture for global investors, with no sign of the region\u2019s IPO boom letting up after a record 2022, reports the <\/span>Financial Times<\/a><\/span>. Big debuts so far in 2023 from the likes of the UAE\u2019s <\/span>Ad<\/a><\/span>noc<\/a><\/span>Gas<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Presigh<\/a><\/span>t AI<\/a><\/span>, and <\/span>Al A<\/a><\/span>nsari Financial S<\/a><\/span>ervices<\/a><\/span> suggest the IPO pipeline is set to remain healthy in the Middle East and Africa, while Europe and the US continue to struggle, the FT says. <\/span><\/p>\n

Major hedge funds and investment firms are putting down permanent roots in the Gulf<\/span>, attracted by Dubai\u2019s no-tax status and convenient time zone. \u201cInternational investors are coming \u2014 big, proper grown-up and respected long-only asset managers in the US and Europe investing with their own people to get ready to make more investments\u201d in the Gulf, one US investment banker told the FT. <\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond listings of state-owned firms: <\/span>Gulf IPOs have been dominated by government-owned firms \u2014 but listings of private and family-owned businesses like <\/span>Al Ansari<\/a><\/span> are now coming to the fore, according to <\/span>Citigroup\u2019s investment banking head Miguel Azevedo. He predicts a third wave of IPOs for \u201cyoung fintech firms and tech-enabled companies\u201d that have grown with funding from private investors.<\/span><\/p>\n

SPEAKING OF WHICH-<\/span>Two Saudi companies are mulling IPOs: <\/span>Saudi <\/span>First Mills<\/a><\/span> is <\/span>looking to make its Tadawul debut in an offering that could value the company at as much as USD 1 bn, people familiar with the matter told <\/span>Bloomberg<\/a><\/span>. And <\/span>IT service provider <\/span>Barq Systems<\/a><\/span> is looking into offering a 20-30% stake on the Saudi bourse in the \u201ccoming period,\u201d according to <\/span>Al Mal<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
