Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.<\/span> We have a diplomacy-heavy issue for you this <\/span>morning, with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly leading a ministerial delegation to Qatar yesterday to push forward talks for fresh Qatari investment. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry became the first senior Egyptian diplomat to visit Syria and Turkey in more than a decade yesterday as Egypt continues to mend relations with its former foes in the region. <\/span><\/p>\n

WATCH THIS SPACE- <\/span>New consumer financing options could be in the works: <\/span>Consumer finance players <\/span>could soon be <\/span>able to offer loans through cards that allow users to make ATM withdrawals, under amendments the Financial Regulatory Authority is considering proposing to the <\/span>Consumer Finance Act<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Al Borsa<\/a><\/span> reports, citing unnamed government sources. <\/span><\/p>\n

PSA- Don\u2019t throw your winter clothes back in the closet just yet:<\/span> Temperatures nationwide <\/span>will remain balmy until Thursday when they\u2019ll dip during the weekend, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority <\/span>said yesterday<\/a><\/span>. Cairo and the Nile Delta will see highs of 28-30\u00b0C until Thursday before falling to 26\u00b0C during the weekend. The evenings will see lows of 13-15\u00b0C in the capital. <\/span><\/p>\n

And maybe keep a mask to hand if you\u2019re heading out and about:<\/span> The Environment <\/span>Ministry <\/span>is warning<\/a><\/span> of elevated pollution levels until 1 March due to a rise in airborne sand and dust. The ministry urged senior citizens and people with respiratory issues to avoid spending too much time outside.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING TODAY-<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>It\u2019s Day 2 of Madbouly\u2019s trip to Qatar:<\/span> Talks between the PM and senior Qatari officials <\/span>yesterday yielded a double taxation agreement that could help to facilitate more investment from Doha into Egypt. However, there was little indication of how acquisition talks are progressing with the Qatari wealth fund, which is yet to deliver on the USD 5 bn investment pledge it made last year. Talks over investment in Egypt\u2019s ports and the potential acquisition of TE\u201ds minority stake in Vodafone Egypt have reportedly stalled in recent weeks, with the two sides unable to agree on how much of the assets should be on offer.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Day 2:<\/span> Madbouly will meet with the Qatari Businessmen Association and the country\u2019s <\/span>chamber of commerce and industry to discuss potential investments in Egypt. <\/span><\/p>\n
