The regulations set a minimum EGP 5 and a maximum EGP 50 per-night charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Other businesses will pay a fixed amount every year: <\/span><span style=\"\">Cafes and restaurants will pay EGP <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">4k to EGP 5k a year, respectively. Fees will increase by EGP 3-5k if they sell alcohol or shisha. Tourist bazaar will be charged EGP 5-10k per year depending on the area, while tourist companies will pay EGP 3-10k depending on their activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Not quite money for nothing:<\/span><span style=\"\"> Companies will receive training services and assistance with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">automation and digitization, the directive says, without elaborating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">About the fund<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">:<\/span><span style=\"\"> The <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3SAOhYw\" style=\"\">Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund (pdf)<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\"> was created last year from the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">merger of three funds affiliated with the ministry. It aims to \u201crevitalize tourism, develop services and tourist areas and conserve and restore antiquities projects.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The private sector is apparently on board:<\/span><span style=\"\"> The fees were given the blessing of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Federation of Tourist Chambers, according to the gazette.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">REMEMBER<\/span><span style=\"\">-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> The government has ambitious targets for the sector:<\/span><span style=\"\"> Tourism Minister <\/span><span>Ahmed Issa wants to <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/01\/23\/travco-wants-to-capitalize-on-the-tourism-rebound-govt-calls-for-usd-30-bn-investments-to-reach-30-mn-guests-94218\/\" style=\"\">pull some USD 30 bn<\/a><\/span><span> into the sector under plans to attract as many as 30 mn tourists to the country a year by 2028.
