Chevron is a 35% partner in the Aphrodite field, along with Shell (35%) and Israel\u2019s NewMed Energy (<font face=\"Arial\">3<\/font>0%). \u201cWe are committed to finding a way to develop the Aphrodite reservoir via the Egyptian infrastructure and the liquefaction facilities there,\u201d MEES reports NewMed CEO Yossi Abu as saying during the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS) last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Half of the field\u2019s output is slated for exports: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Chevron has reached an agreement with local authorities on behalf of its Aphrodite partners to export at least 50% of the field\u2019s planned output, MEES reported, citing unnamed sources. The rest of the output will serve the country\u2019s domestic needs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">REMEMBER- <\/span><span>Egypt and Cyprus <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/05\/26\/egypt-cyprus-to-break-ground-on-gas-pipeline-this-year-el-molla-72050\/\" style=\"\">are planning<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> to lay a pipeline connecting the Aphrodite field to Egypt\u2019s LNG facilities, where natural gas is liquified and exported to Europe, which is expected to be up and running by 2025. Egypt is the only country with LNG facilities in the Eastern Mediterranean, putting us in pole position to fill Europe\u2019s energy supply gap as it rapidly transitions away from Russian fossil fuels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Yes, but:<\/span><span> Cairo is reportedly unwilling to allow Cypriot gas to take up a sizable portion of its export capacity.
