It\u2019s a step forward for plans to localize car component manufacturing and vehicle assembly. The Supreme Council for Vehicle Manufacturing and a fund to provide incentives for greener vehicles are now real after the House of Representatives approved their establishment <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/10\/19\/is-egypt-finally-getting-serious-about-its-domestic-auto-assembly-industry-84435\/\" style=\"\">in October<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">, while the Trade and Industry Ministry launched a new unit dedicated to auto localization plans. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">AND- Stellantis, Nissan, and Al Mansour Automotive are on board: <\/span><span style=\"\">Authorities also signed framework agreements with the local and global automakers on localizing their assembly operations, according to a <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid0Sh49qgpjtmbqV6gVY8GGUGhgfMt7BHbk13QTksV2ALGq17SPsjVXbLV1HNeeBPG9l\" style=\"\">separate cabinet statement<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">. While details on the agreements were scarce, they aim to \u201cachieve binding cooperation between the government and the companies towards the goals of the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/03\/13\/a-first-look-at-the-long-awaited-automotive-strategy-bidding-for-new-ev-charging-company-management-this-week-66761\/\" style=\"\">AIDP<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">,\u201d working with all three of the new automotive bodies as well as state investment body GAFI. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">So are our friends at Shift EV: <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/04\/07\/meet-aly-eltayeb-ceo-of-the-startup-that-wants-to-transform-our-streets-and-help-save-the-environment-in-the-process-68696\/\" style=\"\">Shift EV<\/a><\/span><span> attended the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Vehicle Manufacturing, where they proposed offering a temporary green incentive for the first 10k traditional vehicles converted to run on electricity. The startup converts standard petrol-fueled vehicles into EVs using a proprietary made-in-Egypt battery technology. PM Madbouly <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/02\/12\/this-morning-the-egx-just-had-its-best-day-in-three-months-egp-falls-again-against-the-greenback-96494\/\" style=\"\">recently visited<\/a><\/span><span> the Shift EV factory<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">REMEMBER-<\/span><span> The government is working to launch its automotive strategy AKA the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/03\/13\/a-first-look-at-the-long-awaited-automotive-strategy-bidding-for-new-ev-charging-company-management-this-week-66761\/\" style=\"\">Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP)<\/a><\/span><span>. The <\/span><span>Environmentally Friendly Car Production Fund<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> is designed to help develop the domestic production of environmentally friendly cars, including putting in place incentive programs to encourage innovation and otherwise make the sector competitive. Its purview includes electric vehicles, dual-fuel, and other hybrid cars. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">#3- The Trade and Industry Ministry\u2019s new auto industry unit was also launched yesterday.<\/span><span> The unit will develop the mechanism to calculate incentives for local manufacturers under AIDP, based on the value added by a company\u2019s local activities, annual production volumes, the value of new investments, and the environmental credentials of its products.
