The government could begin roadshows for the sale this week, the sources said, with the final timing of the issuance dependent on market conditions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">How much are we looking to raise? <\/span><span style=\"\">Bloomberg reports that the issuance could be worth up to <\/span><span>USD 1.5 bn, while FinMin has previously said it will look to issue <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/12\/08\/sovereign-sukuk-sustainable-bond-issuances-coming-this-fy-90642\/\" style=\"\">USD 1.5-2.5 bn<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> of the shariah-compliant bonds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\"><span id='wwtt2'>Moody\u2019s, meanwhile, has weighed in on an offering worth up to USD 5 bn<\/span><\/span><span style=\"\">, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moodys.com\/research\/Moodys-assigns-PB3-to-Egypts-Sukuk-Program--PR_467519\" style=\"\">having given<\/a><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moodys.com\/research\/Moodys-assigns-PB3-to-Egypts-Sukuk-Program--PR_467519\" style=\"\">this week<\/a><\/span><span> a (P)B3 rating to a potential USD 5 bn sukuk issuance by the Finance Ministry\u2019s sukuk company. The issuance \u201cwill be used by the company to purchase the usufruct rights to eligible real estate assets,\u201d with the proceeds received by the government set to \u201cfinance investment and development projects included in the economic and social development plan in the state's general budget,\u201d Moody\u2019s writes. The P(B3) rating reflects Moody\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2023\/02\/08\/moodys-downgrades-egypts-credit-rating-for-first-time-since-2013-95854\/\" style=\"\">recent downgrade<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> of our sovereign credit rating on \u201creduced external buffers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"><\/p>\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">EGP WATCH- <span id='wwtt3'>The EGP stabilized against the USD yesterday at 30.62<\/span>, according to central <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">bank figures. The currency passed the 30 mark at the end of January following a sharper devaluation that helped stimulate the return of foreign inflows and alleviate FX woes that had stalled imports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">But <span id='wwtt4'>traders see the EGP under pressure over the coming 12 months<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, Bloomberg reports, saying 12-month non-deliverable forwards eased 1.2% yesterday to 36.025 against the greenback. That suggests traders see the EGP losing a bit more than 14% of its value against the USD over that period. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The next choke points to watch for: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Demand for USD is unlikely to ease substantially in the run-up to Ramadan as traders finish stocking imported essentials for the holy month (they\u2019re doing so a bit later than usual thanks to the FX crunch).
