The minister didn\u2019t mention a timeline for the extension or clarify which phase of the project would see the buildout of the line to the new capital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">REFRESHER- <\/span><span style=\"\">The first, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/06\/26\/usd-659-mn-in-contracts-signed-for-cairos-metro-line-4-74646\/\" style=\"\">19-km phase of the fourth line<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> will connect Cairo, Giza and Sixth of October City. It is expected to take six years to complete. The second, 23.5-km phase, will connect to New Cairo. The project is being financed by a JPY loan provided by the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">#2- Monorail to go live in early 2024:<\/span><span style=\"\"> The eastern section of Cairo\u2019s monorail, which connects <\/span><span style=\"\">Nasr City to the new capital, will start trail operations this October before opening its doors to passengers in early 2024, the minister said.
