A recent Reuters poll predicted growth of 4.8% in the current fiscal year, while the World Bank expects 4.5%, and Fitch has penciled in 4.4%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The rationale: <\/span><span style=\"\">The lender took note of a slowdown in the most recent official growth figures to <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/11\/29\/economy-grew-4-4-y-o-y-in-the-first-quarter-of-2022-despite-global-headwinds-89429\/\" style=\"\">4.4% in<\/a><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/11\/29\/economy-grew-4-4-y-o-y-in-the-first-quarter-of-2022-despite-global-headwinds-89429\/\" style=\"\">1Q 2022-2023<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">, down from 9.8% in the same period a year earlier, on the back of higher commodity prices, \u201clower investor sentiment, higher borrowing costs and greater pressure on external accounts.\u201d It also pointed to drag on the economy thanks to the latest depreciation of the EGP and high inflation, which have led the state to make cutbacks and squeezed local demand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">On the upside:<\/span><span style=\"\"> \u201cThe implementation of structural reforms, supported by the IMF program, and the shift to a durably flexible exchange rate regime are expected to relieve the pressure on external financing and accelerate reforms,\u201d the EBRD writes, forecasting growth to improve in the medium term thanks to a stronger private sector. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The bank now sees 4.6% growth this
