<\/a> The Finance Ministry has officially launched its new framework for issuing <\/strong>sustainable sovereign debt<\/strong>, according to a ministry statement (pdf<\/a>). The framework will allow the state to raise money for a wider range of social and environmental projects \u2014 including the Decent Life initiative \u2014 through the issuance of sustainable development bonds.<\/p>\n

Details: <\/strong>The Sovereign Sustainable Financing Framework (pdf)<\/a> broadens the ministry\u2019s green financing framework, allowing the government to issue new kinds of debt instruments that foster social and sustainable development. These include blue bonds (whichfinance sustainable ocean economies<\/a>) and gender bonds, which help bridge the economic gender gap. Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank were responsible for structuring the framework, the FinMin statement reads. Moody\u2019s ESG Solutions verified the framework\u2019s sustainability credentials, describing<\/a>it as \u201crobust\u201d and \u201ccoherent.\u201d<\/p>\n
