The 27-station, 35-km line will be the first driverless metro in Africa and will link Shubra El Kheima in the north to New Maadi in the south, the company said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alstom said it will supply the rolling stock, and a raft of equipment<\/strong> including the signaling, telecoms and ticketing systems. It didn\u2019t disclose which other companies will work on the project or the value of the contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alstom is becoming a major foreign player in Egyptian rail projects:<\/strong> Currently it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/monorail-story-greater-cairo\">leading<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/monorail-story-greater-cairo\">the consortium<\/a> in charge of the Sixth of October-new capital monorail and is providing new rolling stock for Metro Line 1 under an <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/dfceb221-fc3a-4c21-8327-7a7104b86764\">EUR 876 mn contract<\/a>. It recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zawya.com\/en\/projects\/construction\/alstom-completes-cairo-metro-signalling-and-control-systems-contract-ucn851gh\">finished a contract<\/a> to supply and install signaling and control systems for the third phase of Metro Line 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Transport Ministry signed several other agreements at the conference last week<\/strong>, it said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid02UFYEoxkxrDgvZvNhoe9kDWZJtNmG2gzmy4C3r7fsZ9id3Mt7DpAtb954DzQegKxYl\">a statement<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An MoU with Spain-based consultant <strong>TYPSA<\/strong> to work on <strong>feasibility studies<\/strong> to extend <strong>Metro Line 1<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>An MoU with China\u2019s <strong>AVIC International<\/strong> to undertake engineering, railway and electromechanical work, as well as supply trains, for the <strong>fourth phase of the electric <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/89cb9259-bf42-42bc-acdb-354768318727\">light rail train<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/89cb9259-bf42-42bc-acdb-354768318727\">(LRT)<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>An MoU with <strong>Alstom<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alstom.com\/press-releases-news\/2022\/11\/alstom-collaborates-egypts-ministry-transportation-launch-railway-academy-country\">set up an academy<\/a> to train Egyptian railway engineers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alstom signs Metro Line 6 framework agreement: French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom signed a framework agreement with the National Authority for Tunnels to design, build and maintain Cairo Metro Line 6 on the sidelines of the COP27 summit, the company said in a statement picked up by Zawya.
