The companies will be responsible for the \u201cdesign, construction, management, operation and maintenance\u201d of the terminal, which will feature a 900-meter container berth, the SCZone said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SCZONE.EG\/posts\/pfbid0ZKrqCS7LsqZBVGzcfRR1Ss2TpbYzs89QrRNEYiSvp5BXC9hutnT4oiy3GmVBmCVgl\">a statement<\/a>. The terminal is part of a USD 719 mn package of projects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zawya.com\/en\/projects\/construction\/project-updates-egypts-sczone-approves-key-projects-in-east-port-said-and-sokhna-ports-w1q90wym\">approved by the zone<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is the second terminal the SCZone has signed for this week:<\/strong> Maersk\u2019s Suez Canal Container Terminal <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/458ecb73-0cc1-4a59-8962-eacb4602b09d\">signed an agreement<\/a> with the SCZone on Tuesday for a USD 500 mn expansion project that will increase the port\u2019s capacity by 40%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That\u2019s not all: <\/strong>The SCZone yesterday signed another contract to develop an industrial zone at the port with local player Roots Commodities, it said in a separate <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3g8UjAT\">statement<\/a>. The signing of the contract comes more than a year after a consortium comprising Emirati firm Rosa Grains and Roots <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9e2d1eb1-ce53-4d33-b092-bd96bd0dc484\">submitted a bid<\/a> to establish a logistics hub that includes a EGP 2.2 bn bulk grain terminal. The first phase of the project is estimated at USD 200 mn with a focus on manufacturing grains and cereal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2X GREEN AGREEMENTS-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The SCZone <\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3TFZ6aU\">signed yesterday<\/a><\/strong><strong> two MoUs to recycle factory waste and issue <\/strong><strong>carbon certificates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One with e-waste management startup <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/greeneconomys\/introducing-e-tadweer-the-nationwide-electronic-waste-recycling-app\/\">E-Tadweer<\/a> to manage and recycle solid waste and e-waste safely<\/li>\n<li>One with <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b570f5c3-cd03-4c17-a92e-ca6c18e21f0d\">newly-established Libra Carbon<\/a> to issue carbon certificates to companies embarking on emission-reduction projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reminder:<\/strong> The EGX <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/68268b61-5682-45af-a907-019ac3373c6a\">will soon launch Africa\u2019s first voluntary carbon market<\/a>, allowing companies from Egypt and across the continent which reduce their emissions to sell carbon credits.
