Human rights got plenty of attention as talk show hosts continued to push back against <\/strong>criticism<\/strong> of our rights record by Western diplomats, journalists and NGOs. The back-and-forth unfolded as imprisoned activist Alaa Abdel Fattah ended his fourth day without water.<\/p>\n

COP27 President and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry<\/strong> told Ahmed Moussa (watch,<\/a>runtime: 5:05<\/a>) that the Abdel Fattah case is an \u201cattempt to deflect attention\u201d from COP27 and climate change in general.<\/p>\n

Someone turned the dial on Ahmed Moussa up to 11:<\/strong> The firebrand talk show host accused UN human rights chief Volker Turk of \u201cdefending terrorists and criminals\u201d and called the UK \u201cthe capital of terrorism\u201d (w<\/a>atch, runtime: 4:44<\/a>). Turk on Tuesday issued a public statement urging the government<\/a> to release Abdel Fattah. Rep. Amr Darwish is still trying to drum up support after getting <\/strong>booted out of a press<\/a><\/strong>conference on Tuesday<\/a><\/strong> for shouting at Abdel Fattah\u2019s sister, Sanaa Seif, while she was talking to journalists about her brother\u2019s case.
