In the meantime, we have a rundown in the news well (below) of yesterday\u2019s events and will continue wall-to-wall coverage in <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.enterprise.press\/\">Enterprise Climate<\/a> and this afternoon\u2019s EnterprisePM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will inaugurate the two-week conference around noon <\/strong><strong>today<\/strong> alongside UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Simon Stiell. The session is expected to start soon after 12pm CLT and be attended by heads of state and government from across the globe, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/11\/Daily_Programme_Sharm-el-Sheikh2022-OD-20221107-en.pdf\">the agenda (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World leaders are set to line up at the microphone this afternoon:<\/strong> COP27 President Sameh Shoukry will open the first high-level session at 14:30, which will see heads of state give statements until 18.30. Among those speaking today\u2014 according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/11\/List-of-Speakers-First-part-of-the-high-level-segment-for-Heads-of-State-and-Government-COP-27.pdf\">list of speakers (pdf)<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arab leaders including UAE President Sheikh <strong>Mohamed bin Zayed<\/strong>, Jordan\u2019s <strong>King Abdullah II<\/strong>, Iraqi President <strong>Abdul Latif Rashid<\/strong>, and Algerian President <strong>Abdelmadjid Tebboune<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Several European leaders, including German Chancellor <strong>Olaf Scholz<\/strong>, Italian PM <strong>Giorgia Meloni<\/strong>, French President <strong>Emmanuel Macron<\/strong>, and Dutch PM <strong>Mark Rutte<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>UK Prime Minister <strong>Rishi Sunak;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ethiopian Prime Minister <strong>Abiy Ahmed<\/strong>, who is on his first visit to Egypt in four years;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Isaac Herzog<\/strong>, president of Israel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Also today:<\/strong> Saudi Arabia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greeninitiatives.gov.sa\/about-mgi\/\">Middle East Green Initiative<\/a> gets underway in Sharm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you at COP? The planned move would be the first large-scale redundancies at the company since its launch in 2004, and could be the largest-ever at a major tech firm. The layoffs are expected to be smaller in percentage points than the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/57492fc5-123c-46c8-bd4f-a0e62ddb399b\">layoffs at Twitter<\/a>, which will slash headcount by as many as half of its workforce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This comes during a tough year for the company<\/strong> that has seen its share price dive almost 75% amid unrest among investors about its spend on the metaverse and concerns about ad revenues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SIGN OF THE TIMES #2- Money is increasingly hard to come by on Wall Street (yes, <\/strong><strong>really):<\/strong> The rate of stock sales, bond offerings and mergers in the US hasn\u2019t been this slow in more than a decade amid tightening financial conditions, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/raising-money-on-wall-street-hasnt-been-this-hard-in-a-decade-11667730621\">WSJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING TODAY-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/alex.technesummit.com\/2022\">Techne Summit<\/a><\/strong><strong> continues at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina<\/strong>, bringing together entrepreneurs and investors from various sectors in the Mediterranean region.
