It\u2019s a busy but mixed day for Egypt in the international press this morning. <\/strong>Coverage of Egypt\u2019s \u201c#MeToo moment\u201d from the Associated Press<\/a> is getting wide pickup, and US Democratic presidential candidate-in-waiting Joe Biden took a swipe at Egypt<\/a> on Twitter after the release and repatriation of Egyptian-American Mohamed student and activist Mohamed Amashah, whose story got some ink from CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A spate of stories looks at covid in Egypt<\/strong>, including Reuters<\/a> writing of the impact of a permanent ban on late-night dining and shopping<\/strong> (building on measures imposed during the lockdown) and the AP<\/a> talking about Cairenes delivering home-cooked meals to people with covid-19<\/strong> \u2014 a sign there is some good left out there. Sudanese migrants<\/strong> in Egypt are struggling as perhaps a quarter of them have lost jobs and nearly half have had working hours cut thanks to the pandemic, Reuters<\/a> reports, while the AP<\/a> notes that journalist<\/a><\/strong> Mohamed Monir has died of covid <\/strong>after being released from pretrial detention at age 65.
