The current ban is due to expire on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SMART POLICY- Entry visas for tourists arriving on charter flights will be issued at no <\/strong><strong>charge until 31 October<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/30vhMCg\">Cabinet decided yesterday<\/a>. Officials earlier this week said they would <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9f9d6e05-4d54-43f8-9950-948c970373a9\">offer breaks<\/a> on landing, parking and ground-services fees for Red Sea destinations. The government is also planning to cover the cost of treatment for any tourist who contracts the virus while visiting Egypt, unconfirmed reports suggest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red Sea destinations will be the first to fully reopen<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2ATtmMO\">Al Mal<\/a> quoted Tourism Minister Khaled El Enany as saying. Egypt has now disclosed a total of 38,284 confirmed cases of covid-19, after the ministry reported <strong>1,455 new infections yesterday<\/strong>. We now have a total of 11,583 confirmed cases that have since tested negative for the virus after being hospitalized or isolated, of whom 10,289 have fully recovered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Former GAFI boss Mohsen Adel has died of complications from covid-19<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/30uqdh2\">Youm7<\/a> reports. Adel completed a one-year term as chairman of GAFI <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/07\/30\/mohamed-abdel-wahab-tapped-as-new-head-of-egypts-gafi\/\">in 2019<\/a> and had also <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/07\/24\/adel-confirmed-as-egx-deputy-head\/\">served<\/a> as deputy head of the Egyptian Exchange.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foreign appetite for Egyptian sovereign debt is returning -bank sources: <\/strong>Foreign funds bought USD 400 mn of the USD 509 mn on offer at a T-bill auction on Tuesday, state-run news agency <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2UuNf3o\">MENA<\/a> said, quoting unnamed banking sources. Speaking at the end of its two-day Federal Open Markets Committee meeting, Jay Powell said a surprisingly good jobs report last week was welcome, but that it was \u201ctoo early\u201d to suggest whether the recovery would be stronger than initially expected. In a policy statement that observers said was \u201cmostly unchanged compared to April,\u201d the FOMC said it was \u201ccommitted to using its full range of tools to support the US economy.\u201d Speaking at a post-meeting presser, Powell said \u201c<strong>We\u2019re not thinking about raising rates. That\u2019s the bottom-line conclusion we\u2019re drawing from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/gas-2020\">International Energy Agency<\/a>\u2019s 2020 outlook, published yesterday, which sees global demand set to fall by 4% to 3.85 bcm this year, double the decline seen during the 2008 financial crisis. <strong>The IEA sees it taking two years for demand to recover.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EGYPT BEYOND COVID- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tax Authority will extend until 30 September a<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/847a1ad5-9cd4-4ad0-a5dc-f988a35dc7d5\">mechanism allowing taxpayers<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/847a1ad5-9cd4-4ad0-a5dc-f988a35dc7d5\">to unlock assets<\/a><\/strong><strong> frozen due to tax disputes,<\/strong> the authority said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2020\/6\/%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%B5%D8%AD%D9%81%D9%8A.pdf\">statement (pdf)<\/a>. Those who have had assets frozen for failure to pay taxes can get them back if they make a downpayment equal to 5% of the amount owed, and commit to paying off the remainder within two years.
