The planning committee <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a7d1a988-cbe0-4313-8b65-05042bc09ad1\">last week decided<\/a> to cut the stamp tax on EGX transactions to 0.075% instead of 0.05% to narrow the tax rates charged to resident and foreign investors. The amendments would also slash the tax on dividend payouts by listed companies to 5% from 10%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Capital gains tax break for state-owned enterprises gets initial approval:<\/strong> The House gave preliminary approval to amendments to the Income Tax Act that would hand state-owned enterprises in which the government owns a minimum 51% stake a capital gains tax break. Under the proposals, companies would not be charged capital gains tax on the sale of land to banks as part of debt settlements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>House approves two-year suspension of agriculture land tax: <\/strong>The House of Representatives has approved a two-year suspension of the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fec63e66-71d2-4779-91fb-5dd6ba414562\">14% tax on agricultural land<\/a> (known informally as the \u201cmud tax\u201d), a day after the legislation was <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a656d0da-3d20-4abe-b37c-a8040fa473e8\">discussed by the agriculture and planning committees<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2TgBAoh\">Al Mal reported<\/a> yesterday. The law extends an existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.egypttoday.com\/Article\/3\/9866\/Parliament-nods-agricultural-land-tax-suspension\">three-year suspension approved in 2017<\/a> until 2022.
