Egypt probes alleged dumping of aluminum, rolled steel products: <\/strong>The Trade Ministry began earlier this month a \u201csafeguard investigation\u201d into potential dumping of raw aluminum in the domestic market, according to the World Trade Organization (WTO)<\/a>. The investigation comes after state-owned Egypt Aluminium began reporting losses because the market is being \u201cflooded\u201d with imported aluminum products, according to a ministry statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An aluminum dumping frenzy:<\/strong> News of the investigation comes as Egypt is among 18 countries being investigated by the US for dumping aluminium in the US market according to a US Commerce department report earlier this month<\/a>. Although the report doesn\u2019t mention Egypt by name, last month a petition filed by the US aluminium industry<\/a> named Egypt among the list of 18 countries accused of dumping alloy aluminium sheet.<\/p>\n
