Six board members were appointed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial Regulatory Authority Chairman <strong>Mohamed Omran<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Corporation <strong>Ali Farmawy<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Former International Cooperation Minister <strong>Naglaa El Ahwany<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Former Planning Minister <strong>Ashraf El Araby<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Deputy head of the State Council and CBE legal advisor <strong>Tamer El Dakkak<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A representative from the Finance Ministry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong> The new board was scheduled to meet for the first time this past Sunday, but no post-meeting statement was issued. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masrawy.com\/news\/news_economy\/details\/2020\/1\/5\/1700343\/%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3-%D8%A5%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%86%D9%83-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%B2%D9%8A-%D9%8A%D9%82%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%85-%D8%AA%D8%B4%D9%83%D9%8A%D9%84-%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF%D9%8A%D8%A9#SectionMore\">Sources told Masrawy<\/a> that the board was due to approve the membership of the next Monetary Policy Committee meeting. The MPC is next due to meet on Thursday, 16 January, having <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2019\/12\/%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%AF%D9%8A%D9%84-%D9%85%D9%88%D8%B9%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D9%86%D8%B9%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%AF-%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%86%D9%83-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%B2%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%89.pdf\">postponed its last meeting of 2019<\/a> until a new committee could be constituted. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/12\/22\/enterprise-poll-central-bank-of-egypt-to-keep-rates-on-hold-in-final-meeting-of-2019-8827\/\">Seven of 10 economists we polled<\/a><\/strong> <strong>prior to that meeting expected rates to be left on hold. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The new board and MPC compositions come after Tarek Amer was reappointed <\/strong>to a second, four-year term as governor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOVES- <\/strong>Meanwhile, Rami Abulnaga has replaced Lobna Helal as deputy governor; Helal was <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/12\/04\/cbe-deputy-governor-helal-up-for-a-big-post-in-egypts-government-7720\/\">reported last month<\/a> to be stepping down.
