The EGX30 is <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/ea745e38-4504-4cd3-affa-33ad53b32eb0\">reviewed (or \u201crebalanced\u201d) twice a year<\/a>, at the beginning of February and August. Other indexes including EGX50 EWI and EGX70 EWI have also been rebalanced (details in the EGX statement).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s being added to the EGX30? <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education outfit CIRA<\/li>\n<li>Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO)<\/li>\n<li>Speed Medical<\/li>\n<li>Raya Holdings<\/li>\n<li>Rameda Pharma<\/li>\n<li>Egyptian Resorts Company<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s rotating out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CI Capital<\/li>\n<li>Orascom Financial Holding<\/li>\n<li>Orascom Investment Holding<\/li>\n<li>Emaar Misr<\/li>\n<li>Export Development Bank of Egypt<\/li>\n<li>Sodic<\/li>\n<li>Edita<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why are six companies being added, but seven rotating out? <\/strong>Don\u2019t worry, there will still be 30 companies in the EGX30 on Sunday: <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2469cdec-9e26-4c3d-b311-03eca1646756\">OIH\u2019s spin-off of OFH<\/a> means both are leaving the benchmark.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A new set of rules that <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/815451f3-a7af-48a7-a836-abec0fd9b1d2\">came into effect this month<\/a><\/strong><strong> mean no more than five companies <\/strong><strong>from any one sector can be constituents of the benchmark EGX30. <\/strong>Companies rotate into and out of the EGX30 based on their freefloat and trading volume in the shares. Constituents must also have a minimum issued capital of EGP 100 mn, or its equivalent in foreign currency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s no surprise that real estate and non-bank financial services players are rotating out: <\/strong>Each of the two sectors had at least six companies each as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.egx.com.eg\/en\/CurrentIndexConstituntes.aspx?type=1&Nav=1\">current constituents of the EGX30<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is the second big change to index criteria to take place this year. <\/strong>In the February rebalancing, the EGX <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a0cb2af7-3aa5-460f-b75b-10581cc938f3\">tweaked criteria to give more weight to companies with large market capitalizations<\/a>, saying the move would make the index more attractive to foreign investors. Those regulations require constituents to have a freefloat market cap equal to or greater than the median average of the 60 most actively-traded companies. Constituents must also have a minimum 15% freefloat, be traded on at least 65% of trading days during the rebalancing period, and cannot have 30% of their shares or more in cross-holdings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who joined the EGX30 last time \u2018round? <\/strong>Payments giant Fawry, investment bank and NBFS player CI Capital, consumer stalwart MM Group, state-owned Abu Qir Fertilizers, and Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six companies will become constituents of the EGX30 when the latest rebalancing of the benchmark index takes effect on Sunday, the EGX said today (pdf).
