We have chapter and verse on both stories in this afternoon\u2019s Speed Round, below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING NOW- Some 400k people in Egypt have signed up to receive the covid-19 <\/strong><strong>vaccine so far<\/strong>, Health Minister Hala Zayed told reporters on the sidelines of a conference today, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/30jZJO6\">Youm7<\/a> reports. Priority right now is for seniors and younger folks with underlying health conditions; citizens, foreign residents and refugees can register to get the jab.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/egcovac.mohp.gov.eg\/#\/home\">You can register to take the vaccine here<\/a><\/strong> and can choose to file your paperwork in English or Arabic. The rollout started up <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/acb4a69b-9a99-4394-881c-9aba0c326cb9\">last Thursday<\/a> with the Sinopharm and Oxford\/AstraZeneca jabs. Sinopharm is taken in two jabs administered 21 days apart, while folks getting the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine take a second dose after a three-month period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IT\u2019S A PARTICULARLY CRAZY DAY abroad<\/strong>, with at least three stories vying for your attention:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Oil looks like it\u2019s going to stay up in the USD 70 \/ bbl range after an attack<\/strong> on an Aramco facility by Yemen\u2019s Houthi rebels (more in Speed Round, below);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turkey really, really wants to be friends with Egypt <\/strong>and GCC countries, Erdogan\u2019s spokesman told Bloomberg in an exclusive interview (more in Speed Round, below);<\/li>\n<li><strong>GE is closing in on the USD 30 bn sale of its aircraft leasing unit<\/strong> to Ireland\u2019s AerCap. The story leads the front pages of both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ge-nears-deal-to-combine-aircraft-leasing-unit-with-aercap-11615157471?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> (which broke the story) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/466478dc-8339-43b9-b190-d727b4f89ac4\">Financial Times<\/a> this afternoon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s so big about the GE sale? <\/strong>It would be the latest in a string of moves by the once iconic industrial conglomerate to restructure and streamline its operations following an epic corporate meltdown. The aviation unit is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ge-prepared-to-exit-the-bulk-of-ge-capital-1428662109?mod=article_inline\">largest remaining piece<\/a> of what was once GE Capital, an operation that at one time rivaled US banks, but <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.fortune.com\/2008\/10\/09\/news\/companies\/colvin_ge.fortune\/index.htm\">almost tanked the company in the 2008 financial crisis<\/a>. GE already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ge-to-sell-biopharma-business-to-danaher-for-21-4-billion-11551096661?mod=article_inline\">parted ways with its biotech business<\/a> in a USD 21 bn agreement with Danaher in 2019, and its lightbulb business in 2020. GE shares more than doubled in the past six months driven by improving financial results, but the stock price is still down roughly 75% from it's all-time high in 2000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> on the top stories from this morning\u2019s edition of EnterpriseAM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>At what price a transaction? <\/strong>CI Capital thinks Banque Misr\u2019s offer to acquire up to 90% of its shares is <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e33c6974-7afc-4f39-90cd-158e7ff20b45\">underpriced<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The 8.6 mn AstraZeneca jabs we\u2019re expecting should <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/5188cde9-ddae-4cf1-87b4-c1b969ae8056\">arrive within the next few<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/5188cde9-ddae-4cf1-87b4-c1b969ae8056\">weeks<\/a><\/strong>, a bit later than originally projected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Egypt is among the countries that would benefit most<\/strong> from new IMF <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f015b9d6-2861-4d65-bdd3-e8dcea2d822d\">special drawing<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f015b9d6-2861-4d65-bdd3-e8dcea2d822d\">rights<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>YOUR STATUTORILY REQUIRED COVID STORY for the afternoon: The EU\u2019s vaccine <\/strong><strong>regulator is still skeptical <\/strong><strong>about Russia\u2019s Sputnik V, <\/strong>urging member nations not to authorize its emergency use while the bloc\u2019s regulator continues its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ema.europa.eu\/en\/news\/ema-starts-rolling-review-sputnik-v-covid-19-vaccine\">rolling review<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-health-coronavirus-ema-idUSKBN2AZ0RO\">Reuters<\/a>. Sputnik has already been approved by member nations Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, and Brussels said it could begin further talks if four countries request the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here at home, the EDA authorized Sputnik V for emergency use <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/91f336e5-02c4-47c2-bc8f-df0412e484df\">last month<\/a><\/strong><strong>. <\/strong>The approval came after Health Minister Hala Zayed said large shipments of vaccines would start arriving by the second half of the month, partly consisting of Sputnik V, but we haven\u2019t yet heard concrete updates. The private sector could also be making purchases after Prime Speed Medical signed an initial agreement for 10 mn doses <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/cf408285-eb9c-41eb-926e-ab3d6e03e01f\">late last month<\/a>.
