<\/a> VC firm <\/strong>Foundation Ventures<\/a><\/strong> is planning to invest around EGP 30 mn this year from its <\/strong>inaugural Egypt-focused fund<\/a><\/strong>, <\/strong>managing partner Omar Barakat<\/a> told us. \u201cWe\u2019re always interested in fintech, given that it\u2019s growing across Egypt\u201d and is getting a boost from the state\u2019s drive to promote digitization and financial inclusion, Barakat said. Foundation Ventures\u2019 EGP 100 mn fund officially launched late last year with an initial portfolio of four companies including fintech players Capiter<\/a> and Nowpay<\/a>, entertainment platform Minly<\/a>, and logistics company Flextock. The fund was also a \u201cmajor\u201d participant in home buying platform Sakneen\u2019s recent USD 1.1 mn seed investment round<\/a> and invested in online education platform Abwaab<\/a>. Foundation\u2019s partners include Barakat, Mazen Nadim<\/a> and Onsi Sawiris<\/a>.<\/p>\n
