Okhtein hopes the partnership will help it further strengthen its international e-commerce presence after online sales shot up 157% y-o-y in 2020, he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bidayat invests in creative brands in the Mediterranean region and is a sub-fund of the <\/strong><strong>Swiss-based Alsara Investment Group<\/strong>, which has recently embarked on a string of partnerships with high-profile fashion brands, buying a stake in Swiss eyewear start-up<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/akonigroup\/\">Akoni Group<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/alfegypt.com\/2021\/07\/12\/alsara-investment-group-acquires-khrisjoy\/\">acquiring<\/a>a majority share in puffer-jacket brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.khrisjoy.com\/it\/home\">Khrisjoy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bidayat is run by former Egyptian trade and industry minister <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.valentino.com\/en-gb\/world-of-valentino\/maison\">Rachid Mohamed Rachid<\/a>, who is now chairman of fashion giants Valentino in Italy and Balmain in France, as well as CEO of Qatari luxury goods investment vehicle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayhoola.com\/\">Mayhoola<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advisors:<\/strong> MHR in association with White & Case LLP for Okhtein, and Alliance Law Firm for Bidayat, according to an emailed <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2021\/8\/Okhtein-Bidaya.pdf\">press release (pdf)<\/a> from Okhtein.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mediterranean-focused investment fund Bidayat has acquired a stake in luxury Egyptian handbag brand Okhtein, Okhtein CEO Mohamed Abdel Raouf told Enterprise without disclosing the financial details of the agreement.
