We\u2019ve got tons of stuff for you today, so let\u2019s get this show on the road:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-02\"><\/a> <strong>Egypt has officially unlocked the third and final tranche of our USD 5.2 bn<\/strong><strong> standby <\/strong><strong>loan from the IMF<\/strong> after the fund\u2019s executive board finished its second and final review of progress the country has made on measures to unlock the 12-month program, the IMF said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/News\/Articles\/2021\/06\/23\/pr21193-egypt-imf-execboard-completes-2ndrev-under-the-sba-concludes-2021aiv\">a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A week to wait?<\/strong> An exact date for the disbursal of the USD 1.6 bn tranche \u2014 approval on which came after Egypt reached <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/5c5ce656-b259-47f0-be59-5599d49b1d56\">last month<\/a> a staff-level agreement with the Fund \u2014 remains unclear, but Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said yesterday that Egypt would not wait longer than a week to receive it, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.almasryalyoum.com\/news\/details\/2360530\">Al Masry Al Youm<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-04\"><\/a> <strong>PSA #1- We won\u2019t have to pay fees on inter-bank EGP transfers, ATM withdrawals or POS <\/strong><strong>transaction fees for another six months<\/strong>, after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed the central bank to extend the exemption period to the end of the year, the CBE said in <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2021\/6\/PRL-23-6-2021.pdf\">a statement (pdf)<\/a> yesterday. Transaction fees for contactless payment cards, mobile wallets and e-payments will also remain suspended until 31 December while the central bank will continue to cover the cost of withdrawal fees for pensioners.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/35e6ef99-0cd7-49b6-8c5f-a164d1bdd1ec\">The measures were introduced<\/a><\/strong><strong> during the first wave of the pandemic in March last year,<\/strong> and were put in place to cut footfall at banks and financial institutions, promote social distancing, and gradually move Egypt toward becoming a cashless society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PSA #2- We have a long weekend next week<\/strong>, with the country taking 1 July off as a national holiday in observance of the 30 June revolution.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>***CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> with the top stories from yesterday\u2019s edition of EnterprisePM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nafeza customs system registration deadline <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fa0781e5-12b0-479f-ad39-29caa0d05139\">delayed<\/a><\/strong><strong> until October:<\/strong> Importers, multinationals, and foreign companies selling goods to Egypt through seaports now have until the last day of September to sign up for the Customs Authority\u2019s new one-stop platform, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nafeza.gov.eg\/en\">Nafeza<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Ever Given\u2019s owners may have struck an agreement with the SCA. <\/strong>Lawyers representing the Ever Given\u2019s owner and ins. Company reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/dbf74e43-1cfa-4910-8081-cd37df83a072\">reached an agreement<\/a> in principle with the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) over compensation claims for the six-day blockage of the canal in March. The value of the agreement was not disclosed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Egypt is still Africa\u2019s FDI darling: <\/strong>Egypt was the top recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa in 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9e87a03c-6924-4e5d-a81f-83aa57b5d043\">attracting<\/a> USD 5.9 bn in inflows during the year, according to UNCTAD\u2019s 2021 World Investment Report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING TODAY-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-08\"><\/a> <strong>Irrigation ministers from Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan will discuss the GERD today<\/strong> <strong>and <\/strong><strong>tomorrow <\/strong>in a meeting held by the African Union in the Democratic Republic of Congo, representative of the Arab League to the United Nations Maged Abd El Fattah told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=23062021&id=2c8e5af9-9662-4294-a8fa-cb752495e406\">Al Shorouk<\/a>. This is the first time senior officials from the three countries have met to discuss the dispute <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fed1a86a-7b61-41be-828c-d1a714e4de03\">since the beginning of April<\/a>, when talks to decide who should mediate the negotiations collapsed without agreement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This could be one of the last chances for three-way talks before the rainy season is upon<\/strong><strong> us:<\/strong> Ethiopia, which is determined to push ahead with filling the dam with or without an agreement, plans to resume doing so next month when the rainy season hits, giving the three sides little time to find a compromise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Egypt and Sudan are trying to apply as much international pressure on Addis Ababa as<\/strong> <strong>possible to stop them going through with it:<\/strong> The two countries are expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/02216f10-5239-4fd7-bd8a-da6f637ac271\">submit a draft resolution<\/a> to the UN Security Council in the coming days in a bid to pressure world powers to discuss the dispute, and have convinced the Arab League to back their efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEANWHILE-<\/strong> <strong>An Egyptian trade delegation will conclude today the fourth round of <\/strong><strong>discussions<\/strong> <strong>on a potential Egyptian-Eurasian trade agreement<\/strong>. For the past three days, coordination meetings were held in Moscow with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) over the FTA, which would, if struck, significantly contribute to increasing the volume of Egyptian exports to Eurasian countries, the Trade Ministry said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mift.media\/posts\/163939192444030\">a statement<\/a> yesterday. Egypt has been in talks with the EEC over a possible trade pact <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2016\/10\/26\/egypt-may-sign-fta-with-eurasian-economic-union\/\">since 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sound smart: <\/strong>The Eurasian Economic Union is a Russia-led bloc that includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It\u2019s market of about 180 mn people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s day three of the<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/psaworldtour.com\/tournaments\/view\/11445\">CIB PSA World Tour Finals 2020-2021<\/a><\/strong> at Mall of Arabia, and it feels like a very <strong>Franco-Egyptian kind of face-off<\/strong>. <strong>Up today:<\/strong> Women\u2019s world no.2 Hania El Hammamy faces fourth-seeded Amanda Sobhy, while Salma Hany is up against France\u2019s Camille Serme. The live stream will run at 5pm CLT and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/event\">you can watch it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING ABROAD-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bank of England is expected to maintain record-low interest rates and <\/strong><strong>continue its asset purchase program<\/strong> <strong>during its monetary policy meeting today<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/06\/23\/surging-inflation-is-causing-headaches-for-a-cautious-bank-of-england.html\">CNBC<\/a> reports. This comes despite warnings from chief economist Andy Haldane of the looming \u201ctiger of inflation,\u201d with Haldane calling for a GBP 50 bn cut to the bank\u2019s GBP 895 bn quantitative easing program. UK consumer price inflation rose faster than expected to 2.1% in May, beating the bank\u2019s 2% target for the first time in almost two years, and is expected to hit 2.5% by the end of 2021. The main policy rate meanwhile is at a historic low of 0.1%, prompting speculation that tightening could follow next year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mo Salah to miss the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? <\/strong>Liverpool have told the Egyptian Football Association that they do not want any of their players to take part in this year\u2019s Olympics, which will run from 22 July to 7 August \u2014 a week before the start of the Premier League season on 14 August, EFA chief Ahmed Megahed told ONTime Sports (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jgXB7asninM\">watch, runtime: 11:56<\/a>). \u201cI do not want to say that it is impossible for Salah to participate in the Olympics, but it is difficult,\u201d he said.
