The money will help to finance the second phase of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afdb.org\/sites\/all\/libraries\/pdf.js\/web\/viewer.html?file=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.afdb.org%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Fdocuments%2Fprojects-and-operations%2Fegypt_-_electricity_and_green_growth_support_program_eggsp_-_appraisal_report.pdf#page=3&zoom=auto,-13,505\">Electricity and Green Growth Support Program (pdf)<\/a>, an initiative designed to improve the finances of public sector electricity bodies, increase private sector participation in power infrastructure, and promote green energy sources and energy efficiency. The French development agency AFD and Japan\u2019s JICA are also providing Egypt with some loans for the program, the bank said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The first EUR 225 mn phase of the <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/projectsportal.afdb.org\/dataportal\/VProject\/show\/P-EG-FA0-005\">EUR 450 mn program<\/a><\/strong><strong> finishes at the end of this month.<\/strong> The initial phase <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3df53b14-66bf-40c7-8c2a-2e2962e4e4f0\">was agreed with the government last year<\/a> and has spanned FY2020-2021.
