Travel companies aren\u2019t going to be operating buses between governorates over Eid break<\/strong>: <\/strong>The Egyptian Travel Agents Association has banned member companies from transporting citizens by bus between governorates during the Eid holiday, Al Mal<\/a> reports. Whether this means major bus companies will cancel their routes entirely or only allow foreign tourists to travel remains unclear. The decision, which is meant to curb the spread of covid-19, comes after the Madbouly Cabinet announced a semi-lockdown<\/a> for two weeks \u2014 although the Cabinet decision doesn\u2019t restrict movement.<\/p>\n

The Health Ministry <\/strong>reported<\/a><\/strong> 1,150 new covid-19 infections yesterday<\/strong>, up from 1,138 the day before. Egypt has now disclosed a total of 238,560 confirmed cases of covid-19. The ministry also reported 68 new deaths, bringing the country\u2019s total death toll to 13,972.<\/p>\n

<\/a> The FDA has authorized the use of Pfizer \/ BioNTech\u2019s covid-19 vaccine in 12- to<\/strong> 15-year-olds<\/strong>, the authority said in a statement<\/a>, bringing the US a step closer to achieving herd immunity. \u201cHaving a vaccine authorized for a younger population is a critical step in continuing to lessen the immense public health burden caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d said the FDA\u2019s Peter Marks.<\/p>\n

BioNTech is building a vaccine plant in Singapore by 2023<\/strong> that will produce \u201cseveral hundreds of mns\u201d of doses of its mRNA covid-19 vaccine every year, it said in a statement<\/a>. This came a day after news surfaced that BioNTech will produce the vaccines in China alongside Shanghai Fosun Pharma Group.<\/p>\n
