The message was all over the airwaves last night, as we note in Last Night\u2019s Talk Shows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY INTERNATIONALLY:<\/strong> Russia tried to meddle in the US\u2019 2020 presidential elections to boost Donald Trump\u2019s chances of landing a second term by pushing disinformation campaigns against then-candidate Joe Biden, according to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The report also indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin at least signed off on the efforts, and that Beijing had also been mulling \u2014 but ultimately decided against \u2014 a separate manipulation campaign. The story is on the front pages of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/069f7a32-cdbc-4ceb-9ee0-b8a2c65c7c2b\">Financial Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-election-cyber\/russias-putin-likely-directed-2020-election-meddling-u-s-finds-idUSKBN2B82OM\">Reuters<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/03\/16\/us\/biden-news-today\/putin-authorized-extensive-election-influence-campaign-intelligence-report-says\">New York Times<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/intelligence-assessment-2020-election-russia-iran\/2021\/03\/16\/a2650478-8662-11eb-bfdf-4d36dab83a6d_story.html?itid=hp-top-table-main\">the Washington Post<\/a> this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-07\"><\/a> <strong>*** CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> from Tuesday\u2019s edition of EnterprisePM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Banque Misr now holds 90% of CI Capital <\/strong>after completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9a70b224-fa29-4d0c-b29b-3f5cc195752d\">EGP 3.06 bn acquisition of a 65% stake<\/a> yesterday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>State-owned banks NBE, Banque Misr, and Banque du Caire are eyeing a piece of <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c463b80d-422f-4ff0-a5e1-31a7deea074f\">the new futures exchange<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c463b80d-422f-4ff0-a5e1-31a7deea074f\">company<\/a> that is being up for grabs for financial institutions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We featured <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/ab84c3e9-63cf-4abb-a06c-d73da260fa63\">our analyst of the week<\/a><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> Ahmed Hafez, head of MENA research at Renaissance Capital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Top-tier universities in the United States are seeing an \u201cunprecedented\u201d uptick in<\/strong><strong> applications, including from Egyptian students<\/strong>, after standardized testing requirements were scrapped as part of the admissions process, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/college-admission-season-is-crazier-than-ever-that-could-change-who-gets-in-11615909061?mod=hp_lead_pos5\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports. The change in admissions requirements, coupled with universities\u2019 wider scope of outreach by relying on online meetings with prospective students, means universities like Harvard and Princeton are expecting to see their student body demographics shifting somewhat in the upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING TODAY-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s interest rate week here and abroad:<\/strong> The US Federal Reserve wraps up its two-day meeting today, though observers say it is unlikely to hike rates this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-fed-ioer\/fed-officials-may-talk-technical-rate-move-but-delay-acting-for-now-idUSKBN2B818L?il=0\">Reuters<\/a> reports. <strong>Brazil <\/strong>will also review rates today. <strong>The Central Bank of Egypt meets tomorrow<\/strong>, with all 12 analysts we spoke with for <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4e93cbb9-79ef-4b1d-807b-d74d1637b427\">our regular poll<\/a> expecting rates to be left on hold. <strong>Turkey<\/strong>\u2019s central bank will also review rates tomorrow (a hike is likely), as will Britain and Norway, while Russia follows suit on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-06\"><\/a> <strong>Remember how we told you that we may all need vaccine passports to travel? The world is taking a step in that direction today<\/strong> when the European Union is slated to unveil a \u201cdigital green certificate,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ed6e9de4-f48e-4d74-97d1-ee80ab8f1a2f\">Financial Times<\/a> reports.
