A renewed push from Egypt and Sudan to bring in mediators to help resolve the impasse over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is driving the news cycle in the press and on the airwaves. Sudanese Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Mahdi sat down with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo yesterday to discuss the dam. We have chapter and verse in Last Night\u2019s Talk Shows, below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is also coming to town within the next few<\/strong><strong> days<\/strong>, Al-Mahdi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=02032021&id=43482b77-9fbc-4aac-a5db-0d32ff77f330\">said yesterday<\/a>, and El Sisi is expected to pay Khartoum a visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suna-sd.net\/read?id=705949\">on Saturday<\/a>. Separately, Egypt\u2019s army Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid held talks with his Sudanese counterpart Mohamed Othman Al Hussein in Khartoum, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suna-sd.net\/read?id=705953\">Sudanese News Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can also expect some chatter today about the situation in Palestine<\/strong>, as Shoukry is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=02032021&id=9a5b166a-aac6-4f2e-b046-a2b6b1e290a3\">scheduled to meet<\/a> with his Palestinian and Jordanian counterparts to discuss ways to revive peace talks with Israel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, on the legislation front:<\/strong> The House of Representatives is soldiering through a stacked pipeline of laws \u2014 the details on which we have in Legislation Watch, below. The House general assembly is <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2OdXAAO\">now in recess<\/a> until Sunday, 14 March. Committee-level meetings will continue during the recess.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY <\/strong><strong>INTERNATIONALLY:<\/strong> The US will have enough vaccines in stock to cover its entire adult population by the end of May, President Joe Biden said at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/03\/02\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-administrations-covid-19-vaccination-efforts\/\">a presser<\/a> yesterday in another acceleration of his timeline for the vaccination program. The <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/529033f4-75c7-4e5d-be88-2607cd51f8df\">emergency approval<\/a> of Johnson & Johnson\u2019s jab was key in bringing forward the administration\u2019s goal to have enough doses for 300 mn Americans, which was previously expected by August, Biden said.
