At the head of the line now are other medical professionals at isolation and fever hospitals, followed by MDs at other facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We\u2019re about two weeks out from receiving two new large-scale deliveries of vaccine. <\/strong>They include the first batch from a 5-8 mn dose order placed through the WHO\u2019s Covax program, the majority of which will likely be the Oxford \/ AstraZeneca jab. The first big delivery is expected in the second half of February, Saad said. Egypt also expects to receive by the end of the month some 300k doses of China\u2019s Sinopharm vaccine. The doses are a gift from China.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We\u2019re not getting all of the doses we need in one go<\/strong>, Saad was careful to say. And frankly, neither is any other country \u2014 look at choppy and delayed delivery everywhere from Canada to Europe and the United States.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Negotiations to lock in supplies of Russia\u2019s Sputnik V and the Johnson & Johnson jab <\/strong><strong>are continuing<\/strong>, Saad added (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pOC5t--HzNs\">watch, runtime: 11:45<\/a>). The Health Ministry has said it would like to see a vaccine made here at Vacsera, and Russia has suggested it may make Sputnik V available for license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Health Ministry <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/4oeyj2na\">reported<\/a><\/strong><strong> 610 new covid-19 infections yesterday<\/strong>, up from 573 the day before. The ministry also reported 53 new deaths, bringing the country\u2019s total death toll to 9,804. Egypt has now disclosed a total of 171,390 confirmed cases of covid-19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The uptick in cases is not cause for concern, but citizens need to adhere to<\/strong><strong> precautionary measures<\/strong>, Saad stressed to Ala Mas\u2019ouleety\u2019s Ahmed Moussa (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jq5Q3NUouNI\">watch, runtime: 7:09<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>VACCINE WATCH-<\/strong> Chinese pharma companies are struggling to produce enough vaccines to meet demand at home and abroad, potentially putting Egypt and other developing countries on long waits for inoculations, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/chinas-covid-19-vaccine-makers-struggle-to-meet-demand-11612958560?mod=hp_lead_pos7\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>, which joins the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/c20b92f0-d670-47ea-a217-add1d6ef2fbd\">Financial Times<\/a> in wringing its hands over the notion that Russia and China are engaged in \u201cvaccine diplomacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Oxford \/ AstraZeneca jab is now approved for folks over the age of 65, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/health-coronavirus-who-astrazeneca\/who-expert-panel-recommends-wide-use-of-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-idUSFWN2KG1K4\">Reuters<\/a> reports, saying the World Health Organization has given its use in seniors two thumbs up.
