Saudi Arabia and <\/strong>the UAE<\/a><\/strong> have reopened their airspaces to Qatar <\/strong>after signing the declaration<\/a> \u2014 along with Egypt and Bahrain \u2014 last week that ended nearly a 3.5-year blockade of Doha. Saudi airlines have resumed operating regularly scheduled flights<\/a> to Qatar, while Qatar Airways said<\/a> it will restart commercial flights to Saudi. Qatari vehicles also crossed<\/a> into the kingdom by land yesterday, for the first time since mid-2017.<\/p>\n

Diplomatic ties will likely take longer to restore though:<\/strong> This is according to UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash, who said last week<\/a> that while logistical ties can be easily mended, the rebuilding of trust necessary to fully restore diplomatic relations will be a long-term project.<\/p>\n

Qatar doesn\u2019t plan foreign policy changes and isn\u2019t reining in mouthpiece <\/strong>Al Jazeera.<\/strong> Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani tells the Financial Times<\/a> that it will continue its cordial relations with Turkey and Iran, \u201cin a sign that it has made few concessions\u201d with its regional rivals. And Bloomberg\u2019s Bobby Ghosh concludes<\/a> that the royal family has emerged from the crisis with \u201ca stronger hand,\u201d ending the embargo still in control of its policies and with stronger regional allies in Tehran and Ankara.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
