The latest developments see worries about what delta is doing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/delta-variant-stalls-asias-economic-recovery-after-early-rebound-11627922736?mod=hp_lead_pos2\">Asia\u2019s economic recovery<\/a>, the IMF allocating another USD 650 bn in special drawing rights to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/a4eb68e0-e439-4c88-ab07-037c6c106fbd\">help shore up emerging economies<\/a> slammed by covid, and more US cities and companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f36d0fec-4e52-4a6e-9527-68ec73bcc309\">bringing back masks<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/new-york-officials-recommend-masks-indoors-as-covid-19-cases-rise-11627925181?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">stop the advance of the more transmissible variant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oh, and the fourth wave could be upon us by September<\/strong>, the Health Ministry is warning, as schools reopen, holidaymakers return from Sahel and points abroad, and office workers return. We have the rundown in Last Night\u2019s Talk Shows, below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaccine update: <\/strong>That <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/39e49875-dd32-496d-b117-0a8f5e453e4e\">12-day delay in your scheduled appointment<\/a> with the Health Ministry for a second vaccine does? It is very real, in our experience. One of us showed up yesterday to get our second jab and was very politely asked to return on Friday, 13 August (no omens there, right?) instead. Health Ministry officials are working to bring in stocks of new, <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e1e34ad9-6773-466f-8299-8ae3246409f6\">made-in-Egypt Sinovac by mid-month<\/a> and are waiting for a cornucopia of other vaccines to arrive in the coming weeks and months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have a kid you want to protect against covid? <\/strong>The UAE has just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-02\/uae-approves-sinopharm-shot-for-children-aged-three-and-above?srnd=premium-middle-east&sref=mmeFTDW1\">approved Sinopharm for<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-02\/uae-approves-sinopharm-shot-for-children-aged-three-and-above?srnd=premium-middle-east&sref=mmeFTDW1\">use in children aged three and up<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We also have news of more complaining from the global giants who may want to sell the <\/strong><strong>nation <\/strong><s>cancer sticks<\/s><strong> cigarettes.<\/strong> While Philip Morris is interested in bidding for a new licence to distribute tobacco products, three competitors are complaining that they need more time and more protection before bringing their exceptionally healthy, not-at-all-destructive to human health products to the market.
