It\u2019s good news for the investment environment, if not particularly great from a healthcare point of view. It\u2019s critical that the government deliver clarity on the license terms to avoid the type of mixed messaging that muddled the last attempt to take a license to market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD? There are three, actually<\/strong>, all of them vying for your attention this morning. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/491a245d-4af7-4cad-b860-6ba51b86b45f\">Financial Times<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/inflation-is-hot-now-but-investors-are-betting-that-wont-last-11627810380\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> are giving plenty of attention to the <strong>specter of inflation<\/strong>, which the WSJ suggests investors are starting to price in. Both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/fauci-warns-on-covid-19-that-things-are-going-to-get-worse-11627838537\">Journal<\/a> and Reuters are getting edgy about <strong>lockdowns and a prospective fourth wave<\/strong>, with the latter quoting Anthony Fauci as saying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/fauci-predicts-us-will-not-return-lockdowns-despite-delta-variant-risks-2021-08-01\/\">Amreeka isn\u2019t locking down again<\/a> despite a surge in the Delta variant at same time as Australia sends troops into the streets of Sydney to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/australia-extends-covid-19-lockdown-brisbane-sunday-2021-08-02\/\">enforce a snap lockdown<\/a>. <strong>China\u2019s \u201ccapitalist smackdown\u201d<\/strong> is getting prominent play in both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2021-08-01\/china-tech-crackdown-communist-party-policy-changes-behind-1-trillion-selloff?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/08\/02\/china-is-willing-to-do-what-it-takes-to-address-social-problems-dbs.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also getting ink: Jack Dorsey\u2019s Square has agreed to buy Afterpay<\/strong>, home to a popular buy now, pay later product (<strong>think: EFG Hermes\u2019 valU<\/strong>) in a USD 29 bn all-stock transaction. The news is everywhere from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/08\/02\/square-to-buy-australia-fintech-afterpay-amid-buy-now-pay-later-trend.html\">CNBC<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/square-agrees-to-acquire-afterpay-for-29-billion-in-all-stock-deal-11627855390\">WSJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO WORTH KNOWING- Is Agent Orange planning a 2024 re-election campaign? <\/strong>Former US president Donald Trump has a USD 102 mn war chest of \u201cpolitical cash he can wield as the GOP eyes retaking majorities in Congress next year,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-has-102-million-in-political-cash-as-gop-eyes-retaking-congress-11627778776\">the Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports. Trump \u2014 who raised more money than any other Republican \u2014 would not be able to use all of the funds for a reelection bid and has not yet said whether he plans to run.<\/p>\n<p><strong>***CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> on the top stories from yesterday\u2019s edition of EnterprisePM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Big changes <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4bf63530-9d62-4496-880b-c49beed3fbb6\">are coming to the EGX in September<\/a><\/strong><strong> in hopes of raising trading volumes<\/strong>: The way the bourse calculates closing prices will change and the limit on intraday movements in share prices will be raised from 10% to 20%.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Swvl SPAC gets USD 10 mn capital injection: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/#tldr-story-02\">Kuwaiti telecom provider Zain will invest USD 10 mn<\/a> into the company\u2019s newly-announced merger with US-based SPAC Queen\u2019s Gambit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EFG at the top. Again:<\/strong> The investment bank has topped the brokerage league table for the fourth consecutive month with <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/#go-with-the-flow\">a market share of 36.6%<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING TODAY- The <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-foodmanufacturing.com\/en\/Home.html\">Africa Food Manufacturing<\/a><\/strong><strong> exhibition kicks off today <\/strong>at the Egypt International Exhibition Center. The event will run until 4 August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MORNING MUST READ- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-traditional venture investors are crowding out venture capitalists in Silicon <\/strong><strong>Valley<\/strong>, with non-VC funds contributing to a record high of 42% of tech startup transactions in 2Q \u2014 and more than three-quarters of all invested capital, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/tech-startup-financing-hits-records-as-giant-funds-dwarf-venture-capitalists-11627822800?mod=hp_lead_pos5\">the Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports, citing figures from research firm Pitchbook Data. <strong>Hedge, mutual, pension and sovereign wealth funds are investing heavily in US tech startups<\/strong> \u2014 to the tune of USD 150 bn in 1H2021, more than full year funding in every year prior to 2020. While providing more leverage for company founders, all that money has sent valuations sky-high, with at least 136 companies having achieved valuations of USD 1 bn or more from April-June.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CIRCLE YOUR CALENDAR-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s interest rate week:<\/strong> The Central Bank of Egypt will meet this week to review interest rates.
