We have chapter and verse in this morning\u2019s Speed Round, below.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"tldr-story-02\" class=\"content-anchor\"><\/a> <strong>What does August have in store for us?<\/strong> Among the news triggers to keep an eye on in the coming couple of weeks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>PMI:<\/strong> July\u2019s purchasing managers\u2019 index will be out on Tuesday, 3 August.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Foreign reserves:<\/strong> July\u2019s foreign reserves figure should land next week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inflation:<\/strong> Inflation data for July will be out on Tuesday, 10 August.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Wait, there\u2019s more: 2Q earnings season is about to start in earnest \u2014 and the countdown <\/strong><strong>to \u201cback to school\u201d has just begun.<\/strong> Much to the chagrin of the resident 14-year-old, Cairo American College is first back on Tuesday, 17 August. NCBIS follows suit on Sunday, 29 August and returning students at BISC are due back in class on 30 August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schools regulated by the Ministry of Education are due back in session on 9 October<\/strong> and the 2021-2022 academic year runs through 16 June 2022, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/187082953462133\">a cabinet statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WE HAVE ONE DAY OFF this month: <\/strong>Thursday, 12 August is a national holiday in observance of Islamic New Year.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\" \/>\n<p><strong>BIG STORY ABROAD- We\u2019ve cancelled covid (particularly in Sahel), but the rest of the <\/strong><strong>world is singing the Delta Blues. <\/strong>Canada is warning that the country may be in the early days of a fourth wave of the coronavirus thanks to the very transmissible Delta strain, the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/health\/why-delta-variant-spreads-fast-covid-1.6120982\">CBC reports<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/delta-variant-fears-spur-some-americans-to-get-covid-19-vaccine-11627723802?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> says Delta is driving more Americans to get vaccinated, while the New York Times takes a deep dive into \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/31\/us\/virus-unvaccinated-americans.html\">who are the unvaccinated in America<\/a>\u201d amid rising backlash from the jabbed against the unjabbed. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/07\/30\/who-officials-try-to-figure-out-why-delta-is-so-much-dangerous-than-earlier-covid-strains.html\">CNBC<\/a> notes that the World Health Organization is still trying to figure out how much more dangerous Delta is than previous variants, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/international\/2021\/07\/31\/the-pandemic-has-exacerbated-existing-political-discontent\">the Economist<\/a> writes that \u201cthe pandemic has exacerbated existing political discontent,\u201d saying the problem is \u201cworse in middle-income countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>MORNING MUST-READ- No, it\u2019s not a reboot of <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EM0VwEkxWTg&t=37s\">Hot Tub Time Machine<\/a><\/strong><strong>. Seif al-Islam <\/strong><strong>El-Qaddafi is still alive<\/strong> \u2014 and apparently weighing a bid for Libya\u2019s presidency, according to his first interview in a decade with a foreign journalist. Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/30\/magazine\/qaddafi-libya.html\">Qaddafi\u2019s son is alive. And he wants to take Libya back<\/a> in the New York Times.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\" \/>\n<p><strong>Egypt has put itself forward to host the UN Climate Change Conference in 2022<\/strong>, Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/gate.ahram.org.eg\/daily\/NewsPrint\/817718.aspx\">MENA news agency<\/a>. A final decision will be made during the upcoming conference to be held in Scotland from 31 October to 12 November.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Central Bank of Egypt last week approved new interoperability rules<\/strong> designed to make it easier for the public to deposit and withdraw money with any payment card or mobile wallet, regardless of the network operator or the bank, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2021\/7\/Press-Release-Interoperability-of-Cash-in-and-Cash-out-For-Agents-Framework-.pdf\">statement (pdf)<\/a>. The move comes as part of the state\u2019s efforts to maximize the use of infrastructure for payment service providers and boost e-payments. Also: CBE Governor Tarek Amer was in for a sit-down with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Egy.Pres.Spokesman\/posts\/368433774645357\">statement from Ittihadiya<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SIGN OF THE TIMES- EgyptAir charter flights from Madrid to Luxor began operating <\/strong><strong>yesterday,<\/strong> with two flights to operate every Saturday as of the second week of August, reports, according to a Civil Aviation Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/moca123\/posts\/189018539929878\">statement<\/a>. <strong>The news comes as the national flag carrier <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/egyptair\/status\/1420670609722417153?s=12&utm_source=pocket_mylist\">expands service to Canada<\/a><\/strong> with its codeshare partner, allowing travelers to book directly into Halifax, Ottaway, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver via EgyptAir\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE LATEST FROM <\/strong><strong>THE TOKYO OLYMPICS-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Egypt\u2019s men\u2019s handball team triumphed<\/strong><strong> over Bahrain in the early hours of today<\/strong> in the final matchday of the group stage games.
