The treatment involves training the boy on the recorded patterns of his mother\u2019s brain, ingraining in him a rebelliousness against the climate change-denying government and putting the young boy in the center of ongoing political strife. Powers paints a haunting picture of life as it might be years from now and poses a question for readers through his narrative: What kind of world do we want our children to inherit?
