Still, we have plenty of news:<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORIES TODAY so far-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-01\"><\/a> <strong>#1- The global economic recovery is holding steady \u2014 but increasingly at <\/strong><strong>risk.<\/strong> That\u2019s the main takeaway from the IMF\u2019s latest <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2021\/10\/World-Economic-Outlook-Oct-2021-IMF.pdf\">World Economic Outlook<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2021\/10\/World-Economic-Outlook-Oct-2021-IMF.pdf\">report (pdf)<\/a>, in which the lender marginally downgraded its projection for global growth in 2021. The report warns that vaccine inequality and economic divergence between developed and developing nations will exacerbate three big risks: Health concerns, supply disruptions, and price pressures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2- Ain Sokhna Port is getting fresh investments from DP World and CDC Group:<\/strong> Emirati port giant DP World and the UK\u2019s development finance arm CDC Group are setting up a new USD 1.7 bn platform to invest in African ports and logistics infrastructure, DP World <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpworld.com\/news\/releases\/dp-world-partners-with-cdc-group-to-create-africa-investment-platform\/\">announced in a statement<\/a>. Up for a slice of the investments so far: Egypt\u2019s Ain Sokhna Port, Senegal\u2019s Port of Dakar, and Somaliland\u2019s Berbera Port.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#3- <\/strong><strong>Fawry makes its first investment away from home:<\/strong> Egyptian e-payments giant Fawry just finalized its first overseas investment, participating in a USD 5 mn funding round for Sudanese classifieds platform and marketplace, alsoug.com.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#4- The size of the retail tranche of e-Finance\u2019s retail offering will be unchanged at 1.6%<\/strong>, we\u2019re told by a source close to the transaction. We had done math in EnterpriseAM, based on a Reuters report, that suggested the size of the retail offering was expanding. The FRA said in a statement out yesterday that the company could increase the total size of the offering to 417.8 mn shares (against nearly 258 mn shares originally), or 26.1% of e-Finance\u2019s shares. If the company were to price the offering at the top of the range it has communicated, <strong>the transaction could be worth more than EGP 5.8 bn<\/strong>, making it one of the largest Egyptian IPOs in recent memory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>^^ We\u2019ll have the full rundown on these stories and more in tomorrow\u2019s edition of EnterpriseAM.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING NOW- European markets are mixed this afternoon<\/strong>, with the DAX 30, FTSE 100 and CAC 40 all in the red at dispatch time, but the Stoxx 600 (just barely) in the green. European benchmarks have largely followed the tone set in Asia earlier today, where shares in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai all closed in the red. <strong>The big surprise: Wall Street looks set to open in the green<\/strong>, a flip from earlier today. The EGX30 closed up 0.7% today on weak volumes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two top US brokerages think the US shares are looking good. <\/strong>Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan say rising inflation is transitory and now would be a good time to buy the dip, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-10-11\/goldman-and-jpmorgan-say-buy-the-dip-as-inflation-seen-temporary?sref=mmeFTDW1\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports. Analysts from the investment banks say the 5% drop in the S&P 500 is as much of a correction as we\u2019re going to get. And those rising energy prices? UBS Global Wealth Management strategists acquiesce that they will slow down growth, but don\u2019t think they\u2019re \u201csufficient to cause recession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>** CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> on the top stories from today\u2019s <strong>EnterpriseAM<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>State-owned e-Finance <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/38a6850e-751d-4b79-b6cd-62dc9a9de56e\">boosted the size<\/a><\/strong><strong> of its IPO<\/strong> amid strong demand from institutional investors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Egypt\u2019s debt is growing, but the pace of growth is slowing<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4b8c7096-58b1-4aa8-89ea-ee49a52a593c\">World Bank says<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global Ventures wants to do more here:<\/strong> The Dubai-based VC fund <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/85b20c93-1d4f-4640-9cf4-b21a155f6533\">plans to invest<\/a> some USD 15 mn in Egypt before the year is out, with another USD 20-30 mn in the pipeline for 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD- No single story has captured the imagination of the global <\/strong><strong>business press. <\/strong>Reuters is leading with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/energy-crunch-stokes-inflation-economic-recovery-fears-2021-10-12\/\">how inflation fueled by what is now clearly a global energy crunch<\/a> could threaten the world\u2019s economic recovery.
