Yesterday\u2019s decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to call off the years-long state of <\/strong>emergency <\/strong>was at the focus of last night\u2019s talk shows. Ala Mas\u2019ouleety\u2019s Ahmed Moussa and El Hekaya\u2019s Amr Adib both applauded the decision, which will see the nationwide state of emergency lifted after having been extended in three-month intervals since 2017 (watch, runtime: 3:35<\/a> and runtime: 7:13<\/a>). Adib spoke to attorney Mohamed Bahaa El Din Abo Shoka on whether the decision will impact people in pre-trial detention<\/strong> and political prisoners<\/strong> (watch, runtime: 2:40<\/a>). Abo Shoka noted that it will only have implications on those due to be tried in special courts, but who have not yet been prosecuted. In such cases, the defendants will be referred to regular courts.<\/p>\n
