We said earlier this week that it is never too late to start something new <\/strong>\u2014 or even start over. In that vein: Big kudos to reader Ehab Mikhael from ADM<\/strong>, who wrote in to let us know that he agreed, having earned his MBA just a few days earlier at the age of 44.<\/p>\n

EFG Hermes\u2019 consumer finance arm valU was named fintech company of the year<\/strong> at the Tech Innovation Awards 2021<\/strong> \u2014 hosted by BNC Publishing\u2019s Entrepreneur Middle East<\/a> in Dubai on 6 October, the company said in a press release (pdf)<\/a><\/sup>. \u201cWe are honored to be named \u2018Fintech Company of the Year\u2019 by Entrepreneur Middle East and to be nominated among some of the strongest names in the fintech industry,\u201d valU CEO Walid Hassouna said.<\/p>\n

Fintech startup <\/strong>Khazna<\/a><\/strong> was selected to compete in the first iteration of the Last Mile<\/strong> Money Accelerator<\/strong>, a program founded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and managed by design company IDEO. \u201cThe four-month programme aims to supercharge startups with grant capital, world class design support from IDEO and IDEO.org, and connections to key strategic ecosystem partners,\u201d according to Disrupt Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hassan Allam Holding took home the Technology Initiative of the Year prize<\/strong> at the CW Egypt Awards 2021<\/a>.
