Gas exports have been given a boost by the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3613f080-5d75-4b85-af31-1b66fcda3204\">return of the<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3613f080-5d75-4b85-af31-1b66fcda3204\">Damietta liquefaction plant<\/a>, which shipped 600k tonnes of LNG during the quarter and 1.6 mn tonnes since it was brought back online in February.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edita plans to expand to two new markets in the next five years, with one<\/strong><strong> expansion slated for next year<\/strong>, CEO Hani Berzi told <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/30tktGO\">Al Mal<\/a>. Edita has not yet allocated a specific budget or timeline for the expansion, IR director Menna Shams El Din told Enterprise. The move comes as part of a larger plan for regional expansion, including Edita\u2019s new facility in Morocco, where its <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/7b631c86-b30a-46e3-b912-9a1c4ee3dfb6\">first production line<\/a> is set to become operational this month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vodafone Egypt <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3DvbbZj\">submitted<\/a><\/strong><strong> ownership restructuring papers to the NTRA <\/strong>last Wednesday as part of Vodafone Group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/64fb19dc-f090-4b40-844d-01a5cb619e83\">plans to transfer its 55% stake<\/a> in the company to its sub-Saharan African subsidiary Vodacom in a EUR 2.72 bn transaction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other things we\u2019re keeping an eye on this morning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Trade and Industry Ministry is scrapping import duties on iron billets, steel <\/strong><strong>rebar and aluminum products earlier than expected<\/strong>, citing the global <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9ea2765b-4f66-4cd7-ab6f-3e60f49cb0eb\">energy crisis<\/a> and soaring raw material prices, according to a ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mift.media\/posts\/259644742873474\">statement<\/a>. The ministry had first introduced a 16% tariff on steel billets and 25% on steel rebar <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e81fa3ea-9dc4-4dfc-b0b0-700b9e846b3c\">provisionally<\/a> in 2019, with an eye to taper them off over a three-year period. They were <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e81fa3ea-9dc4-4dfc-b0b0-700b9e846b3c\">reduced<\/a> in May to USD 46 per tonne, and USD 85 \/ tonne on steel rebars, and were scheduled for another reduction in April 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Danish industrial conglomerate <strong>AVK Group<\/strong> is <a href=\"https:\/\/alborsaanews.com\/2021\/11\/14\/1481393\">looking to establish<\/a> <strong>two water <\/strong><strong>desalination and sewage treatment projects<\/strong> in the new capital and Damietta.
