The speculation of a potential shift in policy \u2014 coupled with a potential changing of the guard as US President Joe Biden has yet to nominate a new head of the central bank once Jay Powell\u2019s term ends \u2014 has sent <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/eaed208b-a58f-4060-9f0f-3cb326eb4a65\">waves of uncertainty<\/a> across international stock markets. Siegel criticized the Fed for being \u201cbehind the curve\u201d with its monetary policy and maintaining its quantitative easing policies, forecasting that cumulative inflation could reach 20% to 25% over the next several years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The moment of truth: <\/strong>The next Federal Open Market Committee meeting is scheduled for 14-15 December, the outcome of which could trigger the correction Siegel is forecasting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The FOMC meeting will wrap one day before the Central Bank of Egypt\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee will sit down<\/strong> to decide on interest rates here at home. Rising global inflation has so far not pushed the CBE to enact any interest rate changes, with an eye to protect the all-important carry trade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iran-backed Houthi fighters are using bomb-laden boats in the southern Red Sea<\/strong>, creating \u201cimminent danger\u201d to global shipping and trade, the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3DGl2vj\">Al Arabiya<\/a>. The coalition said it is \u201cneutralizing\u201d the threat and is taking \u201coperational measures\u201d against the maritime threat to ensure freedom of navigation, without providing further details.
