A source close to the matter confirmed to Enterprise that talks are still ongoing with three different Arab sovereign funds \u2014 the Qatar Investment Authority, Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund and Abu Dhabi\u2019s ADQ \u2014 as we\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c348db4f-7247-4ed9-a87a-4020be90920e\">reported<\/a> earlier, and that the two parties could come to an agreement by the end of the year. Telecom Egypt has yet to receive an official bid from any of the funds, the source confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>MaxAB <\/strong><strong>closes USD 40 mn pre-series B:<\/strong> B2B e-commerce platform MaxAB closed a USD 40 mn pre-series B round to fund its expansion across the MENAP region, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/10\/MaxAB-raises-40M-to-fuel-growth-and-regional-expansion-EN-PRL.pdf\">a statement (pdf)<\/a>. The round saw follow-on investments from early backers Beco Capital, 4DX Ventures, Flourish Ventures and Africa Platform Capital, as well as commitments from new investors Silver Lake, British International Investment (the UK government\u2019s development finance institution) and DisruptAD (Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund ADQ\u2019s venture platform).<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Russia and the UK are competing for the top slot on the front pages of the international<\/strong><strong> business press this afternoon.<\/strong> Russian President Vladimir Putin imposed martial law in the regions of Ukraine that Russia has annexed, indicating that military administrations will be installed in these regions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/10\/19\/putin-introduces-martial-law-in-illegally-annexed-ukrainian-regions.html\">CNBC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/russian-commander-admits-situation-is-tense-his-forces-ukraine-2022-10-19\/\">Reuters<\/a> report.
