Monthly inflation was up 2.2%. The rise brings the headline rate above the Central Bank of Egypt\u2019s 7% (\u00b12%) target range.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2- More FDI afoot: <\/strong>French cement producer Vicat Egypt has submitted a mandatory tender offer to acquire the remaining 42.12% stake in its subsidiary Sinai Cement Company, to bring its total stake in the company to 100%. Vicat is looking to buy 56.06 mn shares of Sinai Cement at EGP 6.74 apiece in a transaction that values the company at around EGP 897.1 mn, the EGX said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/4\/Vicat-Sinai-MTO.jpg\">bulletin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BUDGET WATCH- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The government\u2019s draft social and economic development plan for FY2022-23 is now<\/strong><strong> with the Senate\u2019s financial affairs committee <\/strong>to discuss and prepare a report, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3LU45kF\">Youm7<\/a> reports. The Senate will then debate the draft plan \u2014 which reportedly includes ramping up public spending to develop education, health, sanitation, transportation \u2014 in a plenary session, before it moves on to the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>^^We\u2019ll have more on these <\/strong>and other stories in tomorrow\u2019s edition of <strong>EnterpriseAM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>** CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> on the top stories from today\u2019s <strong>EnterpriseAM<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Madbouly government <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/cf5f170a-c3e0-42d1-8129-7a001cbcfd69\">now expects<\/a><\/strong><strong> the budget deficit to contract to 6.2% this fiscal year<\/strong>, down from a previous 6.9% target, as the economy absorbs the initial shock of the outbreak of war in Ukraine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reserves decline as CBE deployed excess liquidity to \u201ccalm the markets\u201d:<\/strong> Egypt\u2019s foreign reserves <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1081735e-da66-4ffd-a584-d44e361d6b8c\">declined last month<\/a> for the first time since the early days of the covid pandemic as the conflict in Ukraine rattled the global economy, and the central bank \u201cmobilized excess foreign currency reserves to calm the markets during periods of exceptional stress.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>ADQ could buy up National Investment Bank\u2019s entire stake in Abu Qir:<\/strong> Abu Dhabi wealth fund ADQ <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1639aada-b701-42c4-be0f-f70c6d09ea07\">is on course<\/a> to acquire the National Investment Bank\u2019s entire 21.5% stake in Abu Qir Fertilizers as part of its USD 2 bn investment in Egypt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Are more Russian attacks expected against eastern and southern Ukraine? <\/strong>The EU\u2019s military committee held an extraordinary meeting to discuss expected aggression by Moscow on Ukrainian cities and Ukraine\u2019s request for more weapons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-04-10\/ukraine-update-stand-up-campaign-raises-11-billion-for-aid?srnd=premium-middle-east\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports, citing an EU official speaking off the record.
