The gathering looks like it could become an annual thing: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly suggested yesterday that the next iteration could take place in 1H 2023. We have chapter and verse in the news well, below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi talked all things economy <\/strong>in a talkshow appearance last night just hours after he and the PM spoke at the closing session of the conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AND- A Cairo gathering of gas exporting countries put a shot over the European Union\u2019s <\/strong><strong>bow yesterday <\/strong>as ministers slammed the European Union\u2019s bid to put price caps on natural gas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DRIVING THE AGENDA TODAY- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-05\"><\/a> <strong>Egypt and the UAE will <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid0gKn5z3nuZiF3rVVxhgVD5AaDXHkH4X4bj7L1b3cvYGKcbV5u98c99ivMradBERDgl\">host a three-day gathering<\/a><\/strong><strong> starting today<\/strong> to mark 50 years of bilateral ties. Today will feature an economic forum with attendees including ministers, senior officials and business leaders from the two countries. We\u2019ve been told to expect that a who\u2019s who of the business community will be on site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Egyptian + Emirati business leaders kicked events off early yesterday: <\/strong>UAE government-backed investment platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopia.ae\/\">Investopia<\/a> and the International Finance Corporation hosted a business forum to discuss bilateral investment in the private sector, Emirati state news agency <a href=\"https:\/\/wam.ae\/ar\/details\/1395303094725\">WAM<\/a>reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PSA- Keep your umbrellas at hand: <\/strong>There\u2019s a 50% chance of more light rain in Greater Cairo today, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ema.gov.eg\/posts\/pfbid0AcEBUfKebR8v6WHP5ZQB7aNr2Zpx3uRYTStvvXmvCY4XbPCoXFEvCz4rHQFXQQy9l\">national weather service<\/a> (though our favorite weather app is only predicting clouds). King Charles had reportedly been advised by former PM Liz Truss not to attend the summit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEANWHILE- <\/strong><strong>A showdow<\/strong><strong>n over climate finance is brewing in the run-up to Sharm El Sheikh: <\/strong>Nasr isn\u2019t the only one calling on developed countries to step up on climate finance to less wealthy nations \u2014 or risk jeopardizing the credibility of the entire COP process. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/9c38c6f3-9328-49d0-83b2-330b482a1066\">Enterprise Climate<\/a> has the full story this morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MARKET WATCH-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The world is in its \u201cfirst t<\/strong><strong>ruly global energy crisis\u201d \u2014 and that could turbocharge <\/strong><strong>the switch to renewables, <\/strong>International Energy Agency (IEA) chief Fatih Birol said yesterday. OPEC\u2019s decision to cut 2 mn barrels of oil supply per day is \u201crisky\u201d given pressures on the energy markets, but the upshot is that new renewables capacity is growing faster than expected, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/commodities\/global-lng-markets-further-tighten-next-year-ieas-birol-2022-10-25\/\">Reuters<\/a> quotes Birol as saying. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/9c38c6f3-9328-49d0-83b2-330b482a1066\">Enterprise Climate<\/a> has more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europe looks to have averted a winter gas crisis (for now):<\/strong> A mild October and successful bidding for extra LNG cargoes by European governments mean gas stockpiles are almost full and prices have fallen to less than a third of their summer peak, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-25\/too-much-gas-the-unexpected-twist-in-europe-s-energy-crisis?leadSource=uverify%20wall\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s not over till the thermostats go on: <\/strong>Much still depends on how harsh the European winter will be once it begins in earnest, and how geopolitical energy tensions play out.
