<\/a> Egypt, Greece show united front against Turkish-Libyan Med exploration <\/strong>ambitions: <\/strong>Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias on Sunday met to reiterate their rejection of a Libyan-Turkish agreement<\/a> on offshore oil and gas exploration rights in the Mediterranean, according to a statement<\/a> by the Greek foreign ministry. The agreement could include exploration rights in the so-called \u201cexclusive economic zone\u201d drawn up by the two countries back in 2019, which Egypt and Greece have disputed with their own rival agreement<\/a> demarcating maritime borders in the oil and gas-rich East Med.<\/p>\n

Shoukry urged the UN to take a \u201cclear position\u201d on the Libyan national unity government <\/strong>that signed the agreement with Turkey, at a press conference following themeeting<\/a> with Dendias (watch, runtime: 1:28)<\/a>. The Tripoli government does not have the \u201cauthority to sign any international agreements nor MoUs\u201d since national elections were delayed in December<\/a>, Shoukry said.
