OF DUH- Auto assembly in Egypt is hurting right now:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/alamalauto.com\/\">Al Amal Auto<\/a> could be forced to shutter its factory due to import restrictions, Chairman Amr Soliman told <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3BI7YXu\">Al Mal<\/a>. The sole agent and distributor of BYD and Lada brandpassenger cars and King Long microbuses in Egypt, Al Amal can\u2019t bring in components thanks to import restrictions. Al Amal had already suspended the assembly of the Lada Granta on the back of Western sanctions on Russia, he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REMEMBER- <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f1237459-2827-438d-96c3-8fe7a8dce26e\">New rules<\/a> mandating the use of L\/Cs for imports were imposed by the central bank earlier this year and have made it much harder for distributors to import vehicles and assemblers to access components. Several global car manufacturers have <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3242bc1d-f416-47a6-a914-3ce472eb1c9f\">suspended sales<\/a> to Egypt after local dealers were unable to pay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other things we\u2019re keeping an eye on this morning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Egypt\u2019s Ambassador to Greece<\/strong> discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/174d0949-75cd-49ae-bb8d-6abd66ec4206\">Egypt-Greece interconnection projects<\/a> with the CEO of Greek infrastructure investor and project developer <strong>Copelouzos Group<\/strong>.
