The alliance behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3b3e6cad-637c-4ca8-afe6-94472fcc12d4\">100-MW green hydrogen plant<\/a> being built in Ain Sokhna \u2014 Norway\u2019s Scatec, Nassef Sawiris-backed ammonia producer Fertiglobe and Orascom Construction \u2014 will receive land for a 70 MW solar plant in Benban and a 205 MW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez. The alliance will contract the plots from the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) under the usufruct system, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The race to COP27:<\/strong> The government is hoping to get at least part of the green hydrogen facility up and running in time to showcase it at the COP27 summit in November and has <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c951a22a-6c5e-4d8a-bc92-94fb0928d696\">promised the consortium<\/a> extra electricity from the grid, derived from renewable sources, to make it happen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many others are jostling to get in on Egypt\u2019s nascent green hydro industry: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4ab5ebab-55a1-4a68-97a3-0f02e5b4e147\">Dozens of firms<\/a> have since pledged <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/ce61f67c-28db-4deb-a5d0-adb8f2b34a7f\">USD bns of investment<\/a> for green hydrogen and green fuel projects here.
