<\/a> Insurtech startup <\/strong>Nice Deer<\/a><\/strong> has raised USD 1 mn in a pre-seed round led by <\/strong>Disruptech Ventures<\/a>, the company said in a press release<\/a>(pdf)<\/a> yesterday. An angel investor also participated in the round, cofounder Engy Shalash (LinkedIn<\/a>) told us.<\/p>\n

About Nice Deer: <\/strong>Founded earlier this year by Shalash and Mostafa Medhat (LinkedIn<\/a>), who is also the founder of Nice Deer\u2019s sister company IT Fusion<\/a>. Nice Deer operates a platform that acts as a go-between for healthcare providers, health ins. companies and third-party administrators for medical claims. It says it uses artificial intelligence to analyze medical data to detect fraud and help doctors prescribe medication.<\/p>\n

The company also works to provide health ins. for SMEs<\/strong>, which because of their low headcount are usually victim to high premiums, Shalash said. There are few ins. companies that cater specifically to small firms, and none that cover the full scope of health ins., she told us.<\/p>\n

Why \u201cNice Deer?\u201d <\/strong>The name stems from the ability of deer to grow new antlers every year (representing adaptability) and their wide field of vision, Shalash says.<\/p>\n

Naqla is opening an online store:<\/strong> Trucking startup Naqla<\/a> will launch this week an online store selling truck tires, batteries and other components, the startup said in a press release (pdf)<\/a> yesterday. Customers will be able to purchase parts using buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) plans.<\/p>\n

This comes on the back of a solid funding round for the B2B logistics platform<\/strong>. Naqla earlier this year raised USD 10.5 mn<\/a> in a pre-series A round.<\/p>\n
