The government is forecasting the deficit to fall to <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/cf5f170a-c3e0-42d1-8129-7a001cbcfd69\">6.2% of GDP<\/a> by the end of the current fiscal year from <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b9b256c9-96d6-4a37-8097-31671ba3016b\">7.4% last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Egypt\u2019s debt-to-GDP ratio is expected to come in at around 85% this year<\/strong>, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait is quoted as saying in the statement. That\u2019s well within FinMin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f1aed811-8e9a-412d-ba3f-47159fbb227d\">previous target<\/a> of less than 90%, and below the IMF\u2019s latest forecast of 94%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEANWHILE- Perishable goods with no L\/Cs won\u2019t be left to rot at ports: <\/strong>The Trade Ministry has agreed to release perishable goods from ports to importers who failed to secure the required letters of credit (L\/Cs), according to a ministry letter seen by <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/36RSnYS\">Al Mal<\/a>. Importers must provide a letter of guarantee or cash deposit for the value of the goods in order to secure their release. The central bank has <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f1237459-2827-438d-96c3-8fe7a8dce26e\">since March<\/a> required importers to get L\/Cs for their purchases instead of the common practice of documentary collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO-<\/strong> Nicotine alternatives producer <strong>ANDS <\/strong>will <strong>invest USD 20-30 mn <\/strong>in Egypt to fuel its <strong>expansion <\/strong>in the country.
