Heliopolis Housing and Development, TMG Holding, and Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development closed the day comfortably in the green.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORIES TODAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-01\"><\/a> <strong>#1- \u2018Tis the season for local wheat farming incentives + regulation: <\/strong>Egypt has hiked local wheat procurement prices to range EGP 865-885 per ardeb to encourage farmers to sell more of their crop to the government amid global supply shortages, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/359882906182136\">statement<\/a>by the Cabinet read. The new price tag is lower than the EGP 1k per ardeb farmers had <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/ee61f6b6-d6df-4fa9-b38b-2964b7f8589a\">demanded<\/a>, citing surging inflation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The higher procurement price comes as the government is <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/37AC2Id\">moving to regulate<\/a><\/strong><strong> the<\/strong><strong> market<\/strong>, with Supply Minister Ali El Moselhy issuing a decision requiring farmers to sell a minimum of 12 ardebs of wheat per feddan, and barring them from selling to others without a license. Farmers who sell at least 90% of their crop yield to their government will receive subsidized fertilizers for the summer harvest season, according to the new regs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2- Egypt and Israel will operate direct flights between Tel Aviv and Sharm El Sheikh for<\/strong><strong> the first time starting next month<\/strong>, under an agreement between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Israeli newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/bennett-sissi-agree-to-launch-direct-flights-from-tel-aviv-to-sharm-el-sheikh-1.10678272\">Haaretz<\/a> reports, citing Bennett. The Fed is widely expected to kick off its monetary tightening cycle today, starting with a 25 bps rate hike. The market previously anticipated the central bank to go bigger and raise interest rates by 50 bps, but now expects the uncertainties triggered by the conflict in Ukraine to have changed its calculations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fed\u2019s decision will be important to keep an eye on here at home, as the Central Bank<\/strong><strong> of Egypt\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee is set to meet next Thursday<\/strong>, 24 March for its second interest rate meeting of the year.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-02\"><\/a> <strong>We\u2019re inching closer to a peace agreement as Moscow and Kyiv begin to find common<\/strong><strong> ground: <\/strong>Russia and Ukraine are approaching a consensus on certain parts of the proposed peace agreement that would end weeks of fighting, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/russias-lavrov-says-neutrality-ukraine-being-seriously-discussed-2022-03-16\/\">Reuters<\/a> reports. \u201cNeutral status is now being seriously discussed along, of course, with security [assurances],\u201d Russia\u2019s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. The two sides are \u201cvery close to agreement\u201d on the \u201cspecific formulations\u201d of this arrangement, Lavrov said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The setup would see Ukraine mimic Austria, adopting a neutral status while maintaining<\/strong><strong> \u201cits own limited army,\u201d<\/strong> which Russia is considering a compromise on its part, Russian news agency <a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ru\/20220316\/ukraina-1778431722.html\">RIA Novosti<\/a> quoted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the meantime, Ukraine is striking back against Russia\u2019s offensive<\/strong>, with its armed forces carrying out counteroffensive attacks in several operational areas, which \u201cradically changes the parties\u2019 dispositions,\u201d Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Podolyak_M\/status\/1504001010787921924?s=20&t=RX0PBHBJ8yjdD-FvnQ_4nw\">tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Around 20k Ukrainian civilians have escaped Mariupol in private cars<\/strong>, as Russian forces focus their efforts and resources on the city on the Azov Sea coast, which they need to control before continuing to move further west, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/ukraine-says-20000-escape-besieged-mariupol-uk-says-russian-forces-struggling-2022-03-16\/\">Reuters<\/a> reports.
